how do you care for small pet turtles and what is the best type of store bought home to use for them?
i was at the local mom and pop owned dollar store and i saw a super cute pet turtle they had there for sale and the lady at the store told me to keep it in on e of those cheap small reptile cages the plastic ones they sell at pet stores for under 8 dollars so what i need answered is 2 things #1 how do i care for the turtle its a small one small enough to fit in your hand i dont know its breed or type and #2 whats the best habitat for them and #3 what do they prefer to eat thanks
I agree with coke8mentos, any turtle sold under 4 inches is illegal. And you can check out wikiedia.com, but they eat pelleted turtle food bought at the local pet store ( I prefer Tetra or Wardley items) but you can also give it crickets and fish, it needs a 1/2 land 1/2 water tank setup with UVB lights, and aquarium heater and an undertank heater.

Mom hates Reptiles but i Don’t I have done Research…..?
On the crested gecko confronted my mom a bout 5 times and still she says no…. when my mom and dad got married she told him he had to sale his snakes. The thing is i don’t want a snake i have offered to pay for the whole thing clean the cage every other day, Told her it would not smell if i at least cleaned it at least once a week. i told her i would take care of it and she would never see him/her. i even told her crested geckos can live of of the crested gecko diet alone and she still said no.
Do you think there is any hope or should i just bag my dream of owning one until college?

yeah sure my bro did it with a snake and my mom who had the never ever has a toe out of line goody goody upbringing and now she handles bruce with my bro! i can’t tell u how u could change ur mom coz i dont know her but my mom just took nagging and my dad suporting my bro! just maybe show her how much research you’ve done (like a mountain of books from local library and say you’ve read every one (which you wil have to! well i never sed it woz easy it took my bro over a year!)
